Personal Favorites
As much as I would love to critique the many up and comings, I thought first on the movies I loved the most. My personal favorites tend to range over the 80′ and 90’s, with a few new Depp films thrown in. Looking through my somewhat lacking collection, I saw what I consider to be a thriller of epic capacity. For any Stephen King fans out there, this is a must. Dreamcatcher (2003), a Kasdan film, chronicles the lives of Jonesy, Henry, Pete, and Beaver. Four childhood friends, bonded by compassion, but drawn together as adults to unite against a supernatural evil. Starring ‘My Name Is Earl’s Jason Lee, and the ever amazing Morgan Freeman, as the out-of-control alien bounty hunter. Hell bent on ending these creatures reign, Freeman’s character imprisons those infected, with the alien’s plague, in internment camps. The only one who can stop him, and the infamous leader of the alien’s alliance, whom they call Mr. Grey? Jonesy, with a little help from a secret from his past. All in all, ‘Dreamcatcher’ offers viewers a relief from reality, an intricate plot, and somewhat predictable effects. King’s Dreamcatcher is brought to life in a good old fashioned, male dominated film, which concentrates on shocking its audience to the best of its ability, and is completed with perfection with the ultimate catch phrase, of which I have often coined. “In a Dreamcatcher True, Only Evil Slips Through.”

I’ll have to give Dreamcatcher a chance now. I wasn’t too thrilled about it but I’m willing to give any movie a chance once someone recommends it.
Do you actually prefer it over movies like Shawshank, Green Mile and Shining?

I’m a huge fan of Jason Lee but Dreamcatcher just wasn’t good.

Martin, I can understand that, I think Dreamcatcher requires a certain taste, it wasn’t a huge hit. I feel that the feeling it evoked, and the sense of mystery, really grabbed my attention.
